Final Scores

Please Note, your score is computed according to the proportions described in the course syllabus. The curve grade is based on your final score depending on the mean and standard deviation of all final scores, according to the formula described in your syllabus, while the flat scale is also described in the syllabus. Your grade is the higher of the two grades.

Practice test #9

Hello Dr. Taylor,
I am having a difficult time with paramterizing the surface and setting up the integral for this problem on the review, I have included a picture of my attempt as well as the original quesiton. Thanks in advance

Yes that would give you the correct answer. (BTW, I'm trying to get you guys to put some distance between the concept of the geometric variables x,y and the parametric variables s,t, which you get to choose at your convenience even though when the surface is the graph of a function as it is here, you can put the value of x,y equal the values of t,s)

Practice test#11

in this problem the system of equations is simplified but I dont know why. If you solve for the system of equations after doing the partials I get x =3 and y=1. My question here is, why is 2x+2y=8 reduced to x+y=8.  If you can help me out before the exam, thank you.

That's because x+y = 8 is incorrect and that your calculation x=3, y=1 is correct
