Final Scores
Please Note, your score is computed according to the proportions described in the course syllabus. The curve grade is based on your final score depending on the mean and standard deviation of all final scores, according to the formula described in your syllabus, while the flat scale is also described in the syllabus. Your grade is the higher of the two grades.

Practice test #9
Hello Dr. Taylor,
I am having a difficult time with paramterizing the surface and setting up the integral for this problem on the review, I have included a picture of my attempt as well as the original quesiton. Thanks in advance

Yes that would give you the correct answer. (BTW, I'm trying to get you guys to put some distance between the concept of the geometric variables x,y and the parametric variables s,t, which you get to choose at your convenience even though when the surface is the graph of a function as it is here, you can put the value of x,y equal the values of t,s)
Practice test#11
in this problem the system of equations is simplified but I dont know why. If you solve for the system of equations after doing the partials I get x =3 and y=1. My question here is, why is 2x+2y=8 reduced to x+y=8. If you can help me out before the exam, thank you.![](https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWpoh5G9OS2hIch56WwHp13aZU2ZgdnuEHC4Eg18WW5ZTM-OY9bE7eGCjfZQYjbhjUnpPVcdemuFO-_ygdiRvd3MFfMdtJcRkZ927LKOeXPoh47YZ1vEmSQJ_O_2MXCccmGeq0YZ9R5j4/s640/Screen+Shot+2018-12-04+at+3.16.34+PM.png)

That's because x+y = 8 is incorrect and that your calculation x=3, y=1 is correct

about the extra credit
Hello Professor Taylor,
I am aware that you said no random websites can be used as a source for information, but could it be used for a definition in the introduction?
Many Thanks,
***************************************************
I can see that I miscommunicated. You CAN use websites. This is the 21st century and it's important for you to learn to use and assess the quality of the huge amount of technical information available online, and it should probably even be your first resort to learn something, because it's so easy. I'll be unimpressed if the only publications you cite are non-professional or descriptive rather than technical. I will be impressed, but in the wrong kind of way, if you plagiarize such publications. And btw, you can get engineering journals and textbooks online, without paywall if you are at ASU--that is to say you can get the best quality of engineering publication online.
